Weight loss

Why is it that with more weight loss diets available than ever before we are a more obese nation?
There are a number of different answers to this question but one key element is the lack of a nutritional approach to weight management.

With the diet industry largely focussing on reducing fat intake and counting calories it has led to fats and oils being given a bad name when it comes to managing weight.  With the body requiring a source of energy, if fat - the body's preferred source of fuel, is removed then it only has one other option and that is to rely on carbohydrates.

The Carb Addiction Cycle
"Fats don't make you fat, Carbohydrates make you fat" says Udo Erasmus, author of the best selling book "Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill ".

Carbohydrates tend to lead to major difficulties when it comes to managing weight and it is easy to get trapped in what Udo Erasmus calls the Carb Addiction Cycle.  Having a diet consisting predominantly of carbohydrates can lead to cravings as the energy from them is burned quickly leaving you feeling hungry again.  To satisfy these cravings we reach for more carbohydrates which raise blood sugar levels, release insulin and produce body fat then cause low blood sugar leading once again to cravings.

'Good' fats, The Essential Fatty Acids Omega 3 and 6 contained in Udo's Choice Oil Blend can help break the carb addiction cycle.  These 'good' fats can help keep your:

Cravings at bay by keeping you feeling fuller for longer
Energy levels higher for longer, avoiding the energy peaks and crashes associated with carbohydrates,
Mood stable helping you to stick to a diet plan
Blood sugar and insulin levels stable
Body burning fat efficiently through increasing oxygen metabolism
Body temperature normal helping burn body fat

Carbohydrates can of course be burned off through exercising but with our predominantly sedentary lifestyles many of us do not get the exercise we need to burn off all the carbs.

"Essential Fats shift the body from carbohydrate burning mode to fat burning mode"
Udo Erasmus, World Authority on Omega Oils

 What about saturated fats?

The problems caused by saturated fats are less attributable to the saturated fats themselves than to the fact that most of us do not get enough Omega 3 and 6 polyunsaturated fat.  Every cell in your body requires saturated fat alongside monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.  The key is that there needs to be a balance.  Saturated fats make you insulin resistant whilst Omega 3's make you insulin sensitive so saturated fats are only a problem when they are not balanced out with sufficient quantity of Omega 3.  Other factors of course can play a part in weight management but if you tackle the lack of Essential Fats in your diet then this removes one of the factors that can cause difficulties in losing weight.
